CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – The public is invited to a county-wide reunion, which will take place on Sunday, June 4, from 10 am until 10 pm at the Cove Lake State Park Pavillion. Meat and drinks will be provided; attendees are asked to bring a covered dish to share. There will be door prizes and giveaways at the all day reunion, as well as singing, music and genealogical presentations.

The event is being organized by Nina (Carolina) Douglas and her cousin Cheree Marsh.

Douglas, who is the founder of a Facebook page devoted to ancestors of Campbell County, Tennessee, USA, said they wanted to host a county wide reunion to “connect everyone in the county and show how everyone is connected.”

Douglas’s site has been going a year and a half and has more than 5,700 members.

Through genealogical research, Marsh has “found that the whole county is connected”, according to Douglas.

“That saying of ‘ya better be careful who ya marry, it might be your cousin’…well come down on June 4 and find out!” Douglas said with a laugh.

Marsh, who is a retired criminal profiler in Georgia, will be making genealogical presentations throughout the day.

“She has a lot of different interesting facts and she will be presenting at the event,” Douglas said. Instrument playing and singing will also be happening.

“If you sing or play, ya’ll come! We’ll be doing door prizes and giving away a $100 gift certificate and a $25 gift certificate. It’s going to be a fun day,” Douglas said. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/23/2023-6AM)
