TOP PHOTO: It may be a little dusty, a little dirty, but the Middlesboro Road-Davis Chapel turnoff is open after recent construction.

Head ’em up and move ’em out, because traffic is now welcome once again on the west side entrance-exit to Middlesboro Road.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – After all the roadwork, including the marking and striping, the Davis Chapel turn off on Hwy 63 was opened at 11:20 Friday morning.

It’s smooth traveling on the new-look Middlesboro Road-Hwy 63 intersection.

Traffic signal installation is yet to follow.

Matt Edens with TDOT explains that now the contractor will proceed with constructing both McCarty and Locust Roads. The contractor intends to begin construction on Tues., June 6.  The contractor will need to temporarily close these side roads to complete this work. A closure at this location is necessary to allow the contractor to perform grade work as well as pave the side roads. Traffic will be temporarily detoured to the nearby side streets while this work is taking place. It is anticipated this closure will last approximately two weeks, but that will be dependent upon weather and subsurface conditions.
