JACKSBORO, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – Last June, mysterious letters were left on the front doors of some churches here in Campbell County. A similar act is being repeated, according to officials with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators with the CCSO are looking into reports of multiple letters that were recently placed at several local churches. “Strategically” is how it is worded in the sheriff’s report. These letters do not contain threats of violence, according to the release from the CCSO.

Officials say the person of interest’s vehicle is a gold four door Honda Accord likely a mid 2000s model.

Campbell County Sheriff Wayne Barton is encouraging you to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the CCSO immediately at 423.562.8042.

In June 2022, then Sheriff Robbie Goins described the letters as “non-threatening,” and he called on the FBI and THP for assistance. Letters were found at seven different venues, five Campbell County Baptist Churches, a business and a Masonic lodge, last year. See the story from 2022 HERE. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/10/2023-4PM)
