LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Leadership Campbell County kicked off its 2023-24 session on Thursday with an all day orientation at the Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Jacksboro. This year, 14 participants are taking the 10 month leadership program. The class provides the opportunity to network with local leaders, businesses and civic organizations and encourages community efforts to improve Campbell County.

Participants meet one day a month for 10 months, with the class concluding in an overnight trip to the state’s capital in March.

Thursday’s itinerary showcased several guest speakers, as well as multiple team building activities designed to help participants learn about “communication and working together.”

Some keynote speakers for the day included Kim Bumpas, who is the Tourism Leader for East Tennessee and the Knoxville Community; Keith Carver, Senior Vice Chancellor for UTK and Senior Vice President of UTK Institute of Agriculture; and Jonathan Darling, co-founder of Apostle.cc. Darling is a certified John Maxwell Leadership Coach.

First day orientation went well, according to Leadership Campbell County committee and board members who organized the day’s activities.

Leadership CC is sponsored by the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce and was started by a group of community leaders in 1998. More than 240 people have completed the course to date.

The Mission of Leadership Campbell County is to “Build relationships, enhance leadership skills, increase civic engagement, and to improve community understanding that leads to positive impact on Campbell County.”
