Virgil Phillips, age 94 of Rocky Top, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at his home. He was born January 23, 1929 to the late Richard and Rosa Patterson Phillips in the mining community of Stainville, TN. Virgil was a veteran of the US Army. He was a member and deacon of Indian Bluff Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Alice Phillips and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by: children, Janie Braden and husband Rodney, Danny Phillips; grandchildren, Dewayne Braden and wife Kay, Jamey Braden, and Nicole Williams; great-grandchildren, Kayla Chapman, McKenzie Braden, Kobe Braden, Chad Williams; great-great-grandson, Joseph Williams; brother, Walter Phillips; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Leach Family Funeral Home and Cremation on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 5-7pm with the funeral service to follow at 7pm with Rev. Greg Goodman and Bro. Nicky Braden officiating. Graveside service will be at Laurel Grove Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 12 Noon.
