CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – In its preliminary report, officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol note that two vehicles were involved in Thursday evening’s I-75 wreck that claimed a life.

David Johnson, 45, died when the 2014, double-trailer, Freightliner Tractor Trailer he was driving traveled down an embankment and wrecking off the interstate, according to the THP report.

The other vehicle, a 2021 Honda Pilot, was driven by 47 year old Su K Pham. The passenger was Hang Tao, 44. All three are from Tennessee.

Both vehicles were traveling south on I-75 at Mile Marker 135.4, a mile north of Caryville Exit 134. The report states that traffic was slowing down, and the Honda stopped in the roadway for traffic. The big rig was unable to stop and left the roadway to the left striking the guardrail.
