Barbara Ann Sweat, age 87 of LaFollette, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at LaFollette Medical Center. She was born on September 30, 1935 to the late Sween Isaac and Eltha Jane Turner Sweat in LaFollette. Barbara is remembered for her many years working at Rigg’s Drug Store. She was a resident of the LaFollette Health and Rehabilitation Center where she was known for her sweet personality. Barbara was a member of Coolidge First Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by siblings, Joan Atress Sweat, Frances Izetta Sweat, Oma Drucilla Sweat, Paul Sween Sweat, Sr., and Goldie Jean Longmire; brothers-in-law, Chester F. Holmes, and William Howard “Sonny” Longmire.

She is survived by: sister Verma Vernetta Holmes; sister-in-law, Shirley Sweat; nieces, Pam Millican and husband David and Amy Leach and husband Roger; nephews, Paul Sween Sweat, Jr., Patrick Sweat and wife April, John Holmes and Laura, Jeff Holmes and wife Kristy, William Todd Longmire and wife Stacy; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of Tennova LaFollette Health and Rehabilitation Center along with her physician Dr. Christian Terzian for their excellent care of Barbara.

A graveside service will take place on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 1pm at Bakers Forge Cemetery with Paul Sweat and Ethan Leach officiating. www.leachfamilyfuneralhome.com
