CARYVILLE, TN. (WLAF)- On Wed, Aug., 2, the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 472 Ridge Road in Caryville. It is the residence of 68- year- old Lester Wayne Barnaby, according to the CCSO.  

The search warrant was obtained after the Criminal Investigation Division began an investigation into Barnaby allegedly creating fraudulent driving school and DUI school certificates. The fraudulent certificates were then submitted to courts within several jurisdictions, including the Campbell County Court system, the report said.

Evidence recovered during the search warrant related to the fraudulent certificates includes computers, electronic storage devices, printers, narcotics, firearms and over $5,600 in cash.

Allegedly found on Barnaby was a loaded Ruger LCP .380 semi-automatic handgun in his back pocket. During the search a safe was located in a bedroom closet, according to a report from the sheriff’s department. Inside the safe was a plastic bag containing 24 white pills, believed to be Hydrocodone, a pill bottle of Gabapentin prescribed to a deceased individual and approximately $5,652 in cash. In the second bedroom in the home officers found a plastic bag of green plant material believed to be Marijuana weighing approximately .56 ounces, the report said. Multiple hypodermic syringes were found in a third bedroom.

Found throughout the home were five additional firearms consisting of two shotguns, two rifles and an additional semi-automatic.

Barnaby is charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance for resale (Hydrocodone,) possession of a schedule V controlled substance for resale (Gabapentin,) and possession of a schedule VI controlled substance for resale (Marijuana,) and possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
