LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A LaFollette duo is facing charges of tampering with or fabricating evidence. On the first day of August, Campbell County Sheriff’s Det. Sgt. Joe Hopson, Lt. Gary Jeffers and Deputy James McCall were conducting a covert operation on a drug buy. The buy consisted of Justin K. Johnson and Britni Taylor Schwarz prearranging a trip to Knoxville to purchase Methamphetamines and returning it back to Campbell County, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

As the duo returned to Campbell County traveling east on Hwy. 25W from Caryville to Jacksboro, Deputy Franklin Ayers saw the vehicle cross the fog line.  According to the report, the duo noticed a marked law enforcement patrol car behind them. Johnson was heard on audio surveillance telling Schwarz “we are getting pulled over, stuff this we are getting pulled over to which Schwarz asked “really?” and Taylor replied, “yes we are, stuff this.” Schwarz asked where it was, and Johnson replied, “right here in my hand, stuff all of it.” Schwarz was heard saying to keep driving and telling Johnson she didn’t know where it went, Johnson was then heard telling Schwarz a couple of times to “stop digging for it.”

When the vehicle was stopped, Johnson and Schwarz were asked to step out of the vehicle to which they complied. A search of the vehicle resulted in not finding narcotics inside the vehicle or on the duo.

Johnson, 33, 366 Coolidge Rd, LaFollette was charged with tampering with or fabricating evidence. Schwarz, 29, 116 Creek Lane, LaFollette was charged with tampering with or fabricating evidence. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/10/2023-6AM)
