LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A man and a woman, driving separate vehicles on different days on opposite ends of town, were placed under arrest on multiple charges. However, it was speeding that caught the attention of officers tipping them off to more violations for each driver.

Friday afternoon (3:42pm) in front of Long John Silvers is where 58 year old John Wells of West Beech Street-La Follette was stopped by La Follette Police Officer Isaiah Lloyd. Wells Honda Element was reported to have been clocked by radar at 61 miles per hour on a road, the four lane, that has a speed limit of 40 MPH. Officer Lloyd learned that Wells license was suspended, and that he did not have proof of insurance. Wells also had an outstanding warrant out of Anderson County. Wells remains housed in the Campbell County Jail this morning.

A speed of 58 miles per hour in a 40 MPH sounded LPD Officer Cheyenne White’s mobile radar unit on Saturday morning (9:37am). Officer White caught up with 46 year old Michelle Phillips, of Donna Lane-La Follette, near the former Kenny’s Pioneer across from Food Lion. Phillips was unable to provide the officer with proof of insurance. It was from the lack of insurance Officer White learned as to why Phillips drivers license was suspended.
