LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Some changes began Monday while others started a little earlier. Most visible is the construction on Brantley Lane near Fire Station 2 as seen in the photo above. Lafollette Public Works got underway Monday morning reworking the curve at Brantley Lane. The project involves removing a rock bed and reworking the roadway around the curve just off Old Jacksboro Pike.

Construction on the new city stage has begun at the municipal parking lot. The new stage sets between the fire hall and the Beech St. bridge.
Monday was also a busy day on the campus of the Lafollette Medical Center. “We are actually expanding by adding handicap parking to the Emergency Department area. The main lobby parking lot entrance will be upgraded next month. We’ve renovated our lobby. Lots of working going on,” said Sara Lloyd, Vice-President of Operations at Tennova Healthcare – Lafollette.
Freeman Park is now Freeman Corner. The park was named Freeman Park at the Lafollette Centennial in 1997. The park was In memory of Lafollette Mayor Dr. James P. Freeman and Joyce L. Freeman.
Along with the sign of the name change of Freeman Park to Freeman Corner other changes happened. The water fountain that was installed in October of 2012 along with the park benches have been removed.
