LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Man fails to stop on a bicycle, ends up in jail. Last Friday around midnight, LaFollette Police Officer Zack Daugherty was sitting at the intersection of E. Kentucky Ave. and S. Cumberland Ave. That’s when he saw a man on a bicycle without a proper rear reflector and noticed that he failed to stop at the four-way intersection. Daugherty initiated his emergency lights and stopped the bike rider.

Daugherty took the man’s information and asked if he had anything illegal on him. The man identified as Scotty Keith Orick stated no and gave Daugherty permission to search. Daugherty was sooned joined by Sgt. Shane Tielman. Daugherty went to get a pair of gloves to search when Sgt. Tielman saw Orick place his left hand in his pocket and then toss a bag. Orick was immediately detained and placed into handcuffs, according to a report from the LaFollette Police Department.

Officer Daugherty found a bag containing approximately 0.6 grams of a clear crystal substance believed to be Methamphetamine. Daugherty then found a clear pipe with Methamphetamine residue in Orick’s pocket.

Orick, 60, 508 East Hemlock, LaFollette was charged with tampering with or fabricating evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule II controlled substance and violation of traffic control device. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/01/2023-6AM)
