JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Campbell had the start it wanted and so did Clinton. The Cougars opened with a methodical four and a half minute drive for points to lead 7-0. Clinton returned the following kick-off for a touchdown, and just like that, the game was knotted at seven. Watch the game HERE on demand from WLAF.
Gavin Owens capped Campbell’s opening drive with a one yard plunge into the west end zone followed by Rylan Sanders PAT only to see Jeremiah Lee race 73 yards the other way with the kick. Lee’s score triggered 27 unanswered points by the Dragons.
Clinton held a commanding 27-7 lead before Campbell regained the momentum. The Cougars put together a 70 yard scoring drive that included a 35 pass from Landen Hensley to Timmy Gibson. Then the Cougars caught the Dragons looking with a double pass from Hensley to Owens and then Gabe St. John made the final catch hauling in a 31-yard touchdown to make it 27-14.

Campbell went from the double pass to an onside kick and covered it at the Clinton 49. The Cougars drove to the one where it looked like Owens broke the plane, but the officials ruled he did not cross the goal line. A high snap on 4th and goal at the one was lost to Clinton, and the game was never the same.
Clinton scored once more before halftime to lead 35-14.
The second half belonged to Clinton as the Dragons posted 20 more points to leave town with a 55-14 win.

Campbell falls to 2 & 2 while Clinton has won two straight after two losses. The Cougars venture to Lenoir City on Fri., Sep. 15, and Clinton visits Powell on Thursday. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/08/2023-9PM)
