LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Around 5:30 Tuesday afternoon, a BMW was Jacksboro bound, sitting at the Tennessee Avenue stop light. It then bolted away from the pack of stopped vehicles before the light changed, veered all the way across Central Avenue at a high rate of speed, barely missed a CUV, rode the sidewalk, traveling through the Community Trust Bank parking lot, bowling over the ATM and across a flower bed before stopping in the parking lot.
“The driver, a man in his early 50s from Jacksboro, passed all field sobriety tests, and it was determined that his floor mats got hung in the throttle pedal,” said La follette Chief of Police Steve Wallen.

“I’ve seen it all,” said La Follette Fire Chief Jimmy Pack. Pack and fellow firefighters responded along with La Follette Police. “We had to work our way into the vault of the ATM to safely retrieve the money for the bank.
