NASHVILLE, TN. (WLAF)- The Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability (TCAD) has awarded $24,000 in grants to three senior centers in Campbell and Union counites.
The Jellico Senior Center, Senior Citizens Center of Campbell County and the Union County Senior Citizens Center will each receive $8,000. The funds can be used to pay for operating, administrative, programming and preventive maintenance costs.
“Senior centers provide valuable programs and services that can greatly improvethe lives ofaging adults,” said State Rep. Dennis Powers, (R-Jacksboro). “These grants will ensure these opportunities remain available in our communities. I appreciate the General Assembly and TCAD for their continued support of senior centers in Tennessee.”
A total of $1 million in grants were awarded to 125 senior centers across 82 counties in Tennessee. The General Assembly set aside the funds earlier this year and tasked TCAD with distributing them using a competitive application process.
