Lady Cougar JVs win on a buzzer beating three from Reagan Davis for the 41-39 victory

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Halls broke the ice, though it took the Lady Red Devils a full minute to knock down a three taking a 3-0 lead over Campbell Tuesday night on Brown Court. Twenty-seconds later, Saylor Hutcheson drained a trey to knot the game.

The teams swapped leads and Halls was ahead after the first quarter 16-13. It was all Campbell in the second quarter thanks to a suffocating defense and field goal accuracy. Halls went four minutes without points as Campbell outscored the Red Devils 17-4 in the second quarter. Neither team posted points over the final 2:50 of the half.

Carley Kitts did not get into the scoring column until the 7:00 mark of the second quarter. Kitts totaled 9 first half points to lead all scorers. All-in-all, Campbell swished seven first half threes. Three came from Kitts, two from Hutch, one each from Bella Lester and Jayden Kitts.

Halls largest first half lead came at 14-8 with 2:30 on the clock in the opening quarter. Campbell’s biggest advantage was at 30-20 at the mid-game break.

Campbell’s defense kept Halls cold, without points, for nearly nine-minutes of the game. The Lady Cougars outscored Halls 16-11 in the third and then 12-10 in the fourth quarter for a final score of 58-41, Campbell’s largest lead.

Carley Kitts was tops for the game with 16 points while Lacey Pemberton and Saylor Hutcheson scored 10 each. Bella Lester added eight as did Jayden Kitts. Preslee Chapman nailed a big three while Reagan Davis chipped in two with one point coming from Destiny Rutherford.

The Lady Cougars improve to 8 & 0, now 1 & 0 in District 3-AAAA games, while Halls slips to 2 & 5, 0 & 1 in the league. Campbell ventures to Karns on Friday for another district match-up.

The Cougars only home game with First Baptist Academy (FBC) for Saturday, December 16th is cancelled. A change of date has come about for the Lady Cougars only home contest with Walker Valley. The Lady Cougars host the Lady Mustangs on Tuesday, December 19, at 6pm, with a Lady Cougar JV game starting at 4:30pm. The Cougars also play on Tuesday, December 19, in the Anderson County Christmas Tourney. That’s a 1:45pm match-up with the Carter Hornets. WLAF will send you all the live coverage.
