LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – While on routine patrol, LaFollette Police Officer Jesse Ferguson saw a silver 2012 Hyundai traveling westbound on East Central Avenue with non-functioning tag lights. On Mon., Nov. 27, at approximately 11:50pm, Ferguson stopped the vehicle at Tennova Medical Center and made contact with the driver identified as Rhonda Gayle Poston.

According to a report from the LaFollette Police Department, when Ferguson asked her for her license, insurance, and registration, she stated that her license was revoked for DUI. Dispatch confirmed that her license was revoked for DUI, with one prior driving revoked and one prior driving suspended. Ferguson saw Poston reach the area of the passenger side floorboard and center console. She told Ferguson that she was getting her cigarettes because she needed to smoke.

After Ferguson confirmed that her license was revoked, she was placed under arrest. An inventory of the vehicle revealed a clear baggie on the passenger floorboard that contained a green leafy substance with an approximate weight of 2.5 grams.

Poston, 44, 1116 Glade Springs Rd, LaFollette was charged with driving on revoked 2nd, possession schedule VI, violation of TN financial law and improper display of tags. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/11/2023-6AM)
