ROCKY TOP, TN (WLAF) – Multiple fire agencies came to the assistance of the Rocky Top Fire Department in the early morning hours of this Tuesday. Just before 4am is when the call of a two story structure fire was made at 319 South Main Street.
Chief Cory Rice with the Ridgewood Volunteer Fire Department tells WLAF News that the fire was finally knocked down about 7:15am. The chief reports that a teenager was rescued from the fire and that there is, at least, one person, maybe more, unaccounted for. “It is all collapsed down to the bottom floor. It’s a commercial building, an older structure,” said Chief Rice.
“The building is a total loss. Our ladder unit is here and so is Clinton’s,” said La Follette Fire Chief Jimmy Pack.
The Ridgewood Volunteer Fire Department was the first Campbell County Agency called for followed by a call to Caryville Volunteer Fire Department. About a half-hour later, the La Follette Fire Department’s ladder unit was requested. Some of the other responding agencies include Briceville and Clinton. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/23/2024-8AM)
