LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Wednesday was a special day for LaFollette restaurant The Local which was visited by America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) Road Show and film crew. The folks from ABR spent several hours at the restaurant checking out the menu items and interviewing owner Carla Bolton to learn more about her home-cooked food at the home-town eatery.

The Local will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants, along with several of their signature dishes later in the spring, most likely in March after editing is finished.

Campbell County native and owner Carla Bolton was all smiles on Wednesday as she served up home cooked meals and “local favorites” like pinto beans and cornbread, and hand breaded chicken strips, with homemade mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and the club sandwich and potato wedges.

America’s Best Restaurant’s food photographer was on sight on Wednesday taking pictures of five delectable dishes that are local favorites at The Local.

The Local also got to feature their hand-breaded catfish with home fries, hushpuppies and turnip greens, as well as Carla’s favorite, the sweet heat chicken sandwich and crinkle cut fries.

“It went really well and we’re all so excited about this,” Bolton said on Wednesday as ABR’s food photographer took glamour shots of all five dishes one by one.

The ABR crew got to the restaurant at 9am to interview Bolton and film her in the kitchen making some of the special menu items that are being featured.

“That’s what we use the chalkboard for when we come up with new stuff we have it on the chalkboard for a while and the customer favorites, they make the menu,” Bolton said.

She also said she was thankful for the feedback from the customers and thankful for Wednesday’s opportunity with America’s Best Restaurants being onsite at the Local.

“It’s been fun, and it’s been exciting,” Bolton said.
