Lonnie Hatmaker’s 12th El Camino has a new engine

The GMC El Camino is a 1985 model with more than 1 million miles on it. Lonnie Hatmaker is a 1938 model also with more than 1 million miles.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “I put more than a million miles on this El Camino, and now I have a brand new engine,” said Lonnie Hatmaker, the man famous for his white cowboy boots and El Caminos.

“My previous eleven El Caminos were Chevys. This one is a GMC,” said Hatmaker.

Hatmaker, who was yet to see the new engine, let us pop the hood, take a look and snap a photo.

  1. This brings back fond memories for me! My brother in law Roger and my sister Juanita plied us in there after church. It was such fun riding in the back. We thought we were big briitches!
