CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)- A homicide indictment has led to the arrest of Joshua Lee Hill.

On Tuesday, Hill was arrested by LaFollette Police on an indictment that was sought by the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Hill’s involvement in a July 2023 crash that claimed the life of 64-year-old Bill Baird was the catalyst for legal charges.

Last week, the Campbell County Grand Jury indicted Hill, 30, 818 Lowe’s Branch Road, LaFollette, on vehicular homicide, vehicular homicide by intoxication and DUI.

On July 7, 2023, Baird was traveling east in the 400 block of Stinking Creek Road when Hill allegedly crossed over the center line, according to a THP report at the time.

Hill’s 1997 Dodge 1500 then crashed head on into Baird’s 1992 Toyota Tacoma, the report said.

The accident occurred around 5:37pm on that Friday afternoon.

Hill will be arraigned on these charges on Feb. 26 in criminal court. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 2/9/2024- 6AM)
