Wind added to the challenge for those battling Monday’s wildfire.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – For the better part of seven hours, firefighters battled a wildfire in the Fincastle community all the while staying safe and saving nine structures, most of which are homes.

The area around Noah Lane, just off Glade Springs Road, is where the fire started around 2:30pm Monday. Firefighters with the Campbell County Rural Fire Service received mutual aid right away from La Follette and Caryville Fire Departments. Not long after that firefighters with the Tennessee Division of Forestry arrived and put two bulldozers into action.

Much like last week’s fires in La Follette, the wind played a major role in challenging firefighters and fueling the fire.

A total of 13 acres burned, and the fire was contained after 9pm, according to the Tennessee Division of Forestry. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/27/2024-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF CCRFS CAPTAIN DANIEL LAWSON)
