Richard Meadors, age 62, of Knoxville, TN, formally of Speedwell, TN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Fort Sanders Hospital from complications of a stroke that he had on Easter Sunday.

Richard was born on November 2, 1961, in Cincinnati, OH and moved to Speedwell when he was 9 years old. He attended East LaFollette Elementary, Campbell County High School and Bearden High School. He was a member of Cawood United Methodist Church. Everyone who knew Richard knew just how special he really was! His booming personality and great love for all things Tennessee and the color orange made him stand out wherever he went. He loved decorating his yard with anything Tennessee orange, including multiple flags, UT shakers, birdhouses, Smokey inflatables, and even a UT mailbox! Richard’s house could easily be spotted upon turning onto September Lane. The inside was decorated from floor to ceiling with his UT collection and he was always on the search for something new to add (and somehow always found a spot for it)!

Proceeded in death by parents, Charles and Virginia Rogers Meadors, brothers Chuck Meadors and David Meadors and special Aunt and Uncle Smiley and Nancy Leach.

Richard is survived by nephews Charles Brewer and wife Lucy of Gerrardstown, WV, Cody Walters and wife Kara of Corbin, KY and great nieces Makayla and Makenzie Brewer. Special cousins Karen, Kelly and Kent who loved Richard like a brother and many other cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Sertoma of Knoxville for the special care provided to Richard for the past 44 years and the love and support of his daily caregivers and special friends that were truly his family, Nahla Nayil, Tyrone Holland, and Cyrique (CyCy) Havugiyaremye.

Family will receive friends 10-11 AM Saturday, April 27th at Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Beeler Cemetery in Speedwell for 11:30 am Graveside Service and Interment, Rev. Jeremiah Bean officiating.
