Shelby Smith is Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Teachers make a difference in their students’ lives every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation. We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute all of our hard-working educators with a weekly feature.

This week’s featured teacher is Shelby Smith. She teaches first grade at Jacksboro Elementary School and has been an educator for five years.

LaFollette Planning Commission tables proposed ban on billboards

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The monthly meeting for the LaFollette Regional Planning Commission was held Wednesday afternoon at city hall.

There was a brief discussion about billboards inside the LaFollette City limits. Mayor Cliff Jennings said he had discussed the topic with City Administrator Stan Foust. Commission Member Lynn Letner wanted to know who exactly has the regulatory power over billboards. With Foust not able to attend, the commission decided to table the matter until a time that Foust could attend so that more information was available.

LaFollette Police track down speeder in neighborhood

Out of town driver did not realize he was on a street with no outlet

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Over the weekend, Sergeant Isaiah Lloyd with the LaFollette Police Department observed a 2015 Silver Kia four door sedan traveling westbound at a high rate of speed.

Tragedy triggers traffic back up for hours on four lane and Towe String Road

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Wednesday afternoon’s fatal traffic accident on the four lane in front of Doyle’s Tire Shop created a rare traffic jam. For hours, La Follette bound traffic was backed up for miles with east bound lanes totally shutdown. Alternate route Towe String Road also had its share of snarled traffic.

One dead in afternoon wreck on the four lane

Wreckage ended up right in front of Doyle’s Tire Shop

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A wreck involving an SUV and a four door sedan has claimed a man’s life.

Not long before 4pm Wednesday two vehicles collided on the Jacksboro bound side of the four lane into the cut across, according to one witness.

There’s no school, but the building is still there

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Today, we take a look back at the Davis Chapel School. The school was located at the corner of Davis Chapel and Carr-Wynn Roads, but the building is still there today. This photograph is from a time when community schools dotted the entire county.
