LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A wreck involving an SUV and a four door sedan has claimed a man’s life.
Not long before 4pm Wednesday two vehicles collided on the Jacksboro bound side of the four lane into the cut across, according to one witness.

(more…)JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A total of 21 petitions have been requested, to this point, to run in the August 1, 2024, General Election. Of those 21, 12 candidates have returned petitions to the election commission office.
The last day to return a petition is Thursday, April 4, 2024 at noon. Withdrawal deadline is Thursday, April 11, 2024, at noon.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Last spring, the City of La Follette proposed buying a billboard and spending more than a $100,000 in an effort to generate revenue. That is yet to happen. This spring, the City of La Follette Planning Commission looks to discuss the idea of banning billboards inside the City of LaFollette.
Since the city’s egg hunt is Thursday, the March planning commission meeting is set for today, Wed., Mar. 27, at 5pm at city hall.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Rotarians learned about the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, as well as funeral practices of the Civil War era at the club’s luncheon held at the LaFollette Methodist Church on Tuesday.
Rotarian Caleb Leach, who is also the owner of Leach Family Funeral Home and Cremation, gave the interesting historical presentation.
He went through the events of the evening and the aftermath of the assassination.

NASHVILLE, TN (WLAF) – New Vanderbilt Head Basketball Coach Mark Byington never played ball for the Coolidge Cats, but his mother, Trula Longmire-Byington, did. “Mark grew up in Virginia, but he has Campbell County roots,” said the new Vandy coach’s uncle, Jess Longmire.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Construction on two new Habitat for Humanity Homes is underway through the continued partnership with the Jacksboro Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT).
These are the third and fourth houses built in Campbell County through the TCAT partnership. The two new homes are being constructed off Old Highway 63 just east Big O’s Valley. The lots sit side by side.
