Active COVID-19 case count stands at 34 in Campbell County

NASHVILLE, TN (WLAF) - As of Sunday afternoon, the number of PCR positive tests for COVID-19 during the pandemic according to the Tennessee Department of Health is 460, and that includes 416 cases confirmed and probable in Campbell County (an increase of one since Saturday).  Of the cases, 379 are inactive/recovered while 34 patients are recovering and three patients have died.  There have been 10,121 PCR Negative Tests in Campbell County.


It was a fun Flag Run on Saturday afternoon

There were a lot of smiles, thumbs up and waves as the Flag Run ventured through La Follette.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) - The Flag Run comprised of pick-up trucks, motorcycles, cars and vans lined from the center of town all the way back over the 6th Street hill and beyond.  Upwards of a hundred flag wavers left from Food Lion at 1 pm on Saturday on a ride that looped south of Norris Dam and back to La Follette.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Homecoming on The Hill was quite the night of celebration for Cougars young and old, and Campbell’s football team topped the evening with an impressive win over the Gibbs Eagles.  Campbell spotted Gibbs an early 7- 0 lead only to come back and ground the Eagles 41 to 31.  WATCH the game on demand here.

Lovely’s still in the CCHS record book decades later

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – In 1983, Cougar Billy Lovely etched his name in the Campbell record book with a dazzling kick-off return for a touchdown.  After the big play, he hustled to the sideline for a traditional bear hug from his coach, Willard Mitchum, only to see him bellied up to the fence with his back to the field.  Mitchum turned around holding a hot dog and a pop asking “what happened?” 


Campbell County Habitat for Humanity to share in $500,000 THDA grant

LaFollette, Tenn.  – Campbell County Habitat for Humanity today announced it will receive $15,500.00 in grant funding by Habitat for Humanity of Tennessee to build a new home in LaFollette.


New initiatives for long-term care facility residents

NASHVILLE, TN  (WLAF)  – The Tennessee Department of Health and Tennessee’s Unified Command Group  announced on Thursday three new initiatives to enhance the well-being and quality of life of Tennesseans in long-term health care facilities. These efforts include expanding options for visitation, relaxing restrictions for resident interactions within LTCFs and the formation of the Tennessee COVID-19 Long-Term Care Task Force.

Volunteers needed for Saturday's clean-up on Norris Lake

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) - Powell Valley Marina is where volunteers will gather Saturday morning at 9 am for a trash and litter material clean-up of the lake and shoreline above and below Norris Lake at the marina.  The clean up runs until 1 pm.  Weather will be near perfect for Saturday's event.
