Since 1997, Litter Control Officer Glennis Monday, with the help of inmate workers, has made great strides in keeping Campbell County clean.
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – What carries the most alcoholic beverage containers and fast food wrappers? The Campbell County Litter Control truck. “Our top two trash items we pick up are one- alcohol containers and two- fast food items,” said Litter Control Officer Glennis Monday. Monday’s efforts of cleaning up litter across the county are light years ahead of where the county was when Mayor Tom Stiner hired the personable Monday back in 1997.

The WLAF-Charley’s Pizza Final Four Fun Run has matched teams and participants
LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – On Monday, WLAF’s Big Josh and Jim will randomly pull the names of the 64 qualifiers and then randomly select an NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament team for each name. The full list of you, our participants, and your teams will be published by noon on Monday.
It was a mad scramble, more than usual, for two hours on Friday morning around WLAF. From 5:30am until 7:30am, qualifiers called (423.562.1450) or emailed to play along in the annual “WLAF Final Four Fun Run.” Cash prizes and Charley’s Pizza will be awarded to those who have a team make it to the Final Four.

Fires on a day like today can get out of hand quickly in these conditions.
LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – The combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity will lead to an elevated fire risk this afternoon. West to northwest winds will gust between 20 and 30 mph this afternoon, which could allow fires to become uncontrolled.

MURFREESBORO, TN (WLAF) – Saturday night at MTSU’s Murphy Center, the Fulton Falcons repeated as 3-A state basketball champions, the second time the Falcons have done so under the leadership of Coach Jody Wright. The last time back-to-back was in 2008 and 2009.
Fulton defeated Memphis Ridgeway 68-47 all the while posting the most wins in school history, 35. That’s against two losses.

The event was organized by Matherly to raise money for her upcoming Eagle Scout project, which will promote literacy in Campbell County.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – For the sixth consecutive year, eighth grade students at La Follette Middle School got a brief taste of life by playing Adulting 101 on Friday morning. Two groups of 50+ students went through the activity and learned real life lessons that they will hopefully carry with them into adulthood.
