ROCKY TOP, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) – This April is National Safe Digging Month, reminding STATE residents to always call 811 at least three business days before any digging project. National Safe Digging Month is formally recognized by the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate and earned support from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, who has signed a Proclamation declaring April 2020 Safe Digging Month in Tennessee.


Lambdin attempts to take methamphetamine into jail

WHITE OAK, TN (WLAF) - A missing headlight cost a Duff woman a trip to jail. Campbell County Sheriff's Deputy Preston Mullins was traveling in White Oak when he noticed a black Jetta with Kentucky tags had a headlight out. He stopped the vehicle and contacted Mary Melinda Lambdin, who was driving the vehicle. He noticed as he was speaking with her that she was unable to be still and experiencing body tremors. Mullins could also smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from the car. He then noticed an unopened bottle of Bud Light in the center console of the vehicle, according to a report from the sheriff’s department. The report also notes she was also drinking from a Styrofoam cup with a lid.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (SPECIAL TO WLAF) - A joint investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the La Follette Police Department and the 8th Judicial District Drug Task Force has resulted in the indictment of a Jacksboro man on murder charges in connection to an overdose death.
