CSX expected to finish 7th Street work today

CSX closed its 7th Street crossing, at the old depot, on Tuesday morning, and it remains closed today as repairs are made.

One CSX employee said that the local crew is working to prep the area of the crossing ahead of the tamping crew that’s soon to arrive.  The tamping machine will lift the track and pack or tamp the track ballast under the railway tracks to make the tracks more durable.

Until 7^th Street is reopened, traffic is being rerouted by way of the North 5^th Street underpass near WLAF.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/03/2019-6AM)
