LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Two people were jailed on Monday after Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Joe Hopson responded to a call about an assault.

Hopson went to a home on College Hill Road in LaFollette where a man alleged someone was taking pictures of his granddaughters. The victim, who also lives on College Hill Road, told Hopson  when he asked the man, who was later identified as John David Franklin, to stop Franklin became irate and allegedly told the victim he would get a gun and take care of him.

When Hopson spoke with Franklin, he admitted to making the threats and stated that it was legal to shoot someone for coming on to his property, according to a report from the sheriff’s department. During this time, Hopson heard someone in the house, and Franklin said it was his girlfriend. Hopson went inside to check on the woman and found her in the basement, where he saw her open a safe next to the bed. He saw a bag of crystal like substance thought to be  Meth. He also allegedly saw a bottle of liquid medication believed to be a schedule III drug. He found a bag labeled Suboxone film and with one and half pills in the bag believed to be a schedule III drug, a set of scales, several syringes, cotton balls and baggies with residue. The woman said the safe belonged to her and that the Suboxone was hers.  She continued that the pharmacy made a mistake and gave her pills instead of strips.

The woman, identified as Jessica Cheron Daugherty, 38, 1105 Back Valley Road, Lafollette, is charged with possession of a schedule II-controlled substance, possession of schedule III-controlled substance and possession drug paraphernalia.

Franklin, 33, 536 College Hill Road, LaFollette is charged with possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of schedule III controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and assault.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/02/2019-6AM)
