LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Courtney Roach’s Aunt Mary Brumitte made the suggestion, and Roach, with a little hesitation, took her up on it.  She applied for a Habitat for Humanity Home.  “It’s exciting, said Roach, who has been in her new home for a little more than a month, and it was a little scary at first.  But I’m happy I did this.”

WLAF’s Charlie Hutson shares all of his photos HERE.

Roach’s children are thrilled to be in their new home at 612 East Fir Street.  Eight-year old Kaylin, Zachary, five, and the life of the party, four-year -old Autym, are settling in fine to their new digs.

The Roach’s new home dedication was well attended by friends, family and many others who played a role in making this day a reality.

The process was slowed some by COVID-19 after Roach applied in 2019.  She invested sweat equity in a couple of ways; through working at the Habitat Re-Store and painting and helping with the flooring of her new home.  Her new home marks the 36th home built by Habitat for Humanity in Campbell County.

Another Habitat home is well underway on Cowan Lane, east of La Follette.  Habitat for Humanity President Zach Sheets said, “We’re building about two houses a year, and the Cowan Lane home should be finished by the end of the year.  Eight city lots have been donated to Habitat with the prospects of another lot to be donated.”

Roach, who works at Pro Image at Jacksboro, has Aug. 21 circled on her calendar.  That marks the day she and her children made the life changing move to home ownership.
