JACKSBORO, TN. (WLAF)- Former law enforcement officer Justin Crabtree has been sentenced after pleading guilty to aggravated assault and official oppression. Related stories.

Crabtree, a deputy with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, was accused of assaulting Nathan Patrick Thomas Ling in June 2019. He was also accused of using excessive force on Ling, a Michigan resident, according to court records.

On Tuesday, Crabtree was sentenced to 90 days in jail and four years supervised probation.

It was noted in the sentencing order that the former officer was a “leader” in the offenses that occurred in the jail the night of Ling’s arrest. Crabtree also abused a position of public trust, according to the order.

Other stipulations noted in the case were that Crabtree must attend anger management classes and diversion was denied. If he had been granted diversion, the conviction would not have appeared on his criminal record.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 04/29/2021-6AM)
