Carole Downing Bole, age 78, passed away April 28, 2021 in LaFollette, Tennessee. She was the proud mother of four children she had with Thomas F Bole: Tom Jr., Bridget, Kathleen and Tim. Her influence on her children included Tom’s love of books and movies, Bridget’s artistic talent, Kathleen’s inclusive sense of humor and infectious laugh and Tim’s gracious manners.

Born August 27, 1942, Carole spent some of her childhood in update New York, Europe and Washington, D.C. Though she was an only child she was very close to her cousins, including Dan Palmer and Clint Aker. Her accomplishments include a brief modeling career, office administration, running a boutique shop for local artists, volunteering at Bryn Mawr hospital and working as a catalog illustrator.

While raising her children Carole kept house in Kansas, Chicago and Villanova, Pennsylvania. In the mid-eighties she moved to Baltimore where she reunited with childhood friend Pat Ciuffreda and new life-long friend Marion Horseman. She met her partner for the last 36 years, Gerry Horseman. Carole and Gerry lived in Bath, New York to be near her parents Raymond and Edna Downing and eventually moved to Jacksboro, Tennessee.

Whether it was riding horses at the Devon fair grounds or riding a motorcycle through the Philadelphia suburbs, traveling to Istanbul or Ireland, trying new cuisines, Carole loved the understated adventure. And those that got to know Carole, loved her.
