LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A one-vehicle wreck on Old Middlesboro Highway claimed two lives on Wednesday night.

According to the preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, just before 11pm, a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck was traveling east on Old Middlesboro Highway near Stiner Lane and Elm Grove Church when it veered left off of the roadway. The truck then struck two trees, hit an embankment, went airborne, and landed in trees along a fence line. The truck ended up in the westbound lane.

The THP identified the driver as 21-year old Elijah Goins and his passenger was 20-year old Ethan Cox, both of Jacksboro. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.

  1. I live two blocks off of 63 one mile from Big Os. EAch Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights I hear cars racing at high rates of speed. The same on CarrWynn Road. We need the assistance of police to stop this area from being a drag racing strip. No doubt they are spread thin but more and more people will die if this strip gets the reputation for being a good place to let the pedal embrace the metal.

  2. Sending prayers out to the mothers and fathers of these young men. I am 53 and accidents have been happening up the Valley well before I started driving. Never can predict when God is ready to call us home.
