Mr. Ancil E. Garrett

of Rock Creek was born March 13, 1938 and passed away May 08, 2021.

Ancil was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He was Poppy to some and Uncle Ancil to many.  He was a big brother and a friend to all.  If he did not know you, he would make sure that he did before it was over.  He’d know your family too.  Ancil was strong, friendly and a rock for many.  Ancil Garrett was a mountain man through and through.  He read his Bible cover to cover.  He enjoyed anything outside including hunting, fishing and “ginsenging”.  He enjoyed taking his grandkids and nieces and nephews to hunt and fish.

Ancil was the kind of father, grandfather and great-grandfather that had a home and a wallet full of photos of his “younguns”.  He was always proud to talk about their accomplishments and show photos.  He’d put their birthdays or college graduations in the newspaper to cut out and show his buddies.  Ancil enjoyed photography and would take photos of wildlife and people alike.  He loved riding his four wheeler and being with his family.  He hardly ever missed a birthday party or get together.  Ancil was a character.  He will be greatly missed by three generations of his descendants, but will live on in them and in memories and stories and pictures.
