LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The South Campbell County Rotary Club wished fellow Rotarian Gary Farwick and his wife Carolyn a happy retirement during its Tuesday meeting. After more than 20 years in the marina business, the Farwicks recently sold Flat Hollow Marina and are retiring to Florida. A proclamation was presented and read in their honor by County Mayor E.L. Morton.

An active member of Rotary and the community, Farwick also served as Rotary president for a year. He was very active in the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce and served on various boards, including the Floating House Alliance and the Norris Lake Marina Association, among others.

County Mayor E.L. Morton proclaimed March 8, 2022 as Gary and Carolyn Farwick Day in honor of their civic and economic contributions.

Ann Ayers-Colvin presented Farwick with a plaque of appreciation for his economic and civic contributions from the governor of Tennessee. Several community members also spoke, wishing the Farwicks a “happy retirement.”

“We will miss Gary dearly. He and Carolyn are two of the hardest working people. They made a great team out at the marina. He was an excellent president of the club, and he will be missed,” said Rotarian Logan Hickman.

County Mayor E.L. Morton read a proclamation, declaring March 8, 2022, as Gary and Carolyn Farwick Day in Campbell County.

According to the proclamation, as owners of Flat Hollow Marina, the Farwicks “built a multi-billion dollar attraction that draws visitors and economic impact from all across North America and drives our local economy to success.” The proclamation also commended the Farwicks on supporting “so many community development efforts and organizations in meaningful ways.”
