LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Throwback Thursday takes us back to the opening of the new Colonial Room located on Hwy 25W where Ayers Auction & Real Estate is today.

Meet the staff in the photo above. Left to right are Waitress Betty Mars, Waitress Hazel Whitus, Assistant Manager Jerry Roach, Owner-Manager Lassie Ayers, Waitress Joanne Hughes, Waitress Virginia Ausher and Waitress Ann Cooper. This picture was taken because it was Easter on April 22, 1962.

The Easter special for lunch consisted of five specials and was served with two sides for $1.00. Your choices were roasted turkey, dressing  with gravy, chicken and dumplings, baked ham, country style steak and gravy or fried chicken with cream gravy. Serving hours on that Easter were from noon until 4 pm. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/01/2022-6AM)
