LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – After the lane marking and striping were completed and the last of the traffic light hoods was removed, it was showtime at the new Big O’s East intersection. At 7:05pm Tuesday, the new turn lane was open to traffic where Old Highway 63 meets New Highway 63, the General Carl Stiner Highway.

Arrows on the road along with barriers help travelers navigate through the new section of road.

It took just a few minutes for drivers to understand the new traffic pattern. Seems like the biggest confusion was for those coming down Old Middlesboro Hwy with several travelers going through Big O’s parking lot instead of following the road on around to the traffic light.

Drivers are getting used to the new intersection that was opened Tuesday at 7:05pm.

A few drivers had a problem following the arrows to make a left turn onto 63 to head toward Lafollette. But in just a short time, drivers were following the traffic arrows and traffic was flowing smoothly. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/12/2023-6AM)
