Hobart Thomas Sharp, 83, passed peacefully on October 4, 2021 in Tucson, AZ, and now returns to his childhood home for his ashes to be buried with his family.

Born November 19, 1937, Hobart was the last child to William “Bill”& Tommie Gambrel Sharp in Insull, KY, where he lived with his family in coal mining camps.  At a young age his family moved to LaFollette, Tennessee where he began school. In search of a better job and life for his family, Bill moved them to Detroit in the 1950’s where Hobart completed high school. He joined the Army in 1960, and served in Korea during the peacekeeping era.  After an Honorable Discharge, Hobart joined his father and brother, who had moved to Tucson, Arizona for Bill’s health. Hobart worked in the grocery business until his retirement.  Hobart loved to “tinker” and build things; growing up poor made him always want to fix anything he could instead of buying new.  Hobart loved doing yardwork, thrift store shopping, listening to Country and Bluegrass music, and keeping up with American politics.

Uncle Hobie, as he was affectionately known to his nieces and nephews, was a very kind, gentle and caring soul.  He was always around to help whenever or however he could.  He was quiet, not much of a talker, but he loved being around his family; he was especially devoted to his older sister, June.  After she lost her husband, the siblingslived together the last 10 years of Hobart’s life.  With their tight sibling bond, Hobart and June werealways there for each other with care and support.  He has been greatly missed by all who knew him.

Hobart was preceded in death by both of his parents, brothers Will Sharp and Shirl (Hank) Sharp, brother-in-law L.D. Sharp, and sisters-in-law Elizabeth and Wilma Sharp.  He left behind nieces Tommie Miller & Rayna Kruszewski of Tucson, nephews Ron Sharp of Nashville, & Derek Sharp of Clinton, and many grandnieces and grandnephews and their families.  He also left behind nephew David Sharp, who subsequently passed away in 2022, and his beloved sister, LaHoma June Sharp, who subsequently passed away April 15, 2023.
