JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Brian Henegar, who won over $70,000 as a three-time champion on the Jeopardy! game, stole the show Monday night at the Campbell County Commission.

Henegar, who grew up in the county and attended LaFollette schools before going on to Tusculum, was honored by the three commissioners in his district, Beverly Hall, Dewayne Kitts and Scotty Kitts, by the full commission and by the citizens in the audience. He received a proclamation as well as a large playing card with his photo on the back as king of hearts.

In other business, the commission:   

– Agreed to use the Firefly registration system for local campground and RV park rentals.   

– Agreed to not provide assistance to local non-profit organizations that fail to comply with the commission’s reporting regulations. The regulation will take effect July 1, 2023.

– Approved adding Melvin Hollow and Chaska roads to the water project list.

– Voted to apply for a shooting sports grant.

– Accepted a request to install a flag retirement box at the courthouse. Local scouts will dispose of the flags properly.

– Under a suspension of the rules, approved the minutes of the recent building and grounds committee meeting.
