JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – We’ve all had that teacher who inspired us or helped in some way. That’s why WLAF and Eagle Tire Pros salute one of our hard working educators with a weekly feature. Teachers make a difference in their students lives each and every day. For many students, having a teacher who cares and goes that extra mile can be the difference in a successful education and graduation.

This week’s featured educator is Jacksboro Elementary School’s Aaron Brown. Brown was “born and raised in Campbell County and has lived in Jacksboro his entire life.”

He attended Jacksboro Elementary School and is thrilled to now be teaching there. He currently teaches fifth grade math and science.

It was Brown’s parents that inspired him in his career choice and “to work hard in all he does.”

His mother currently teaches math at Jacksboro Middle School.

“I have learned a lot from them both. Together with my family, Randy and Stacey Brown, and Olivia and Kelly McKamey (sister and brother-in-law), we own Mugs Ice-cream,” Brown said.

Brown has been an educator for eight years, with three of those teaching fifth grade. He previously taught fourth grade.

“I love my job and the people that I work with, including my current grade level team and my previous fourth grade level team. I have learned a lot from them and couldn’t imagine doing the job without them,” Brown said.

His favorite part about teaching is helping his students gain the confidence needed to be successful at math.

“I love to see them grow over the course of the year. I also enjoy seeing their excitement to learn new skills and incorporate them into our activities and lessons. I hope all students have a love of math as I do, and that it will follow them throughout their life. I want all my students to use their confidence and love of math to do anything they set their mind to in the future,” Brown said.

Every Thursday, WLAF’s Charlotte Underwood features the WLAF – Eagle Tire Pros teacher of the week. That educator also receives a free oil change from Eagle Tire Pros.
