LAFOLLETTE, TN., (WLAF)- The one-time Campbell County High Soccer Coach Jason Austin will not face criminal charges following the conclusion of a nearly three-month long investigation.

In March, Austin was suspended from his coaching duties when a decade old allegation surfaced.

This week, the investigation was concluded.

“Our office reviewed the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office investigation and determined that there was not sufficient evidence to support a criminal prosecution,” Eighth Judicial District Attorney General Jared Effler said yesterday.

Despite this, Austin will not be returning to his coaching duties.

“We will be going in a different direction with the coaching program,” Campbell County Director of Schools Jennifer Fields said on Thursday.

Instead of looking to the community, Fields said employees will be considered as coaches noting it was an “employee incentive.”

Following the news of charges not being filed, Austin was contacted by WLAF for comment.

Austin said he was appreciative of “the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department for their hard work and thoroughness in what I am sure is an unpleasant and thankless role.”

After 14 years of coaching, Austin said this experience helped him to see how large his “extended family” was with numerous people coming forward to support him over the last few months.

“Now that this chapter of my life is closed, I am looking forward to seeing what plan God has laid out for my family and I. Where and what that path will include, we will follow,” Austin said via text.

Austin was named head coach of Campbell County High Girls and Boys Soccer in June 2022. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 6/16/2023- 6AM)
