Betty Lou Ward, age 73, of Jacksboro passed away Thursday, June 15, 2023. She was an RN for over 48 years and retired from Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge with 28 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith. Preceded in death by Parents: L. M. and Dorothy Lawson Byrge.

Survived by:

Husband of 50 years Bobby Ward

Son: Darrin and wife Taroll Ward

Grandchildren: Huckson Ward, Kendell, Sawyer, Avery, Sawyer and Trenton

Brothers: Link M. Byrge, Jr. (Kathy), Johnny Byrge (Donna) and Chucky Byrge

Sisters: Brenda Ward, Naomi Byrge, Pat Mays, Anita (Keith) Cochran, Mary Louise Massengill and Linda Pierce (Shannon Seiber)

A number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends and her Methodist Medical Center family.

Family will receive friends 5-7 PM, Sunday, June 18th at Cross-Smith Funeral Home with funeral service to follow in Cross-Smith Chapel at 7 PM, Rev. Tommy Reece officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10 AM, Monday, Cross-Smith Funeral Home and proceed to Queener Cemetery for 11 AM interment.

  1. Betty was a one of kind. She was like a breath of fresh air even in the most difficult of circumstances. I feel privileged to have called her my friend and a co-worker. She was a wonderful nurse and had a special healing touch.
