LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A call about a stolen vehicle led La Follette Police Officer Austin Tindell to a wanted man. However, Tindell ended up having to search through a house at 302 West Iron Street before he located and could place the suspect under arrest.

Tindell believed the stolen car was driven by Clinton Swain, a man wanted on an active felony arrest warrant. The officer wound up finding Swain hiding inside a closet.

While back-up Officer Shane Tielman was taking Swain into custody, Tielman allegedly spotted, in plain view, a clear bag containing a crystal-like substance that Swain stated was meth, according to the report from LPD. The report said Swain went on to say that in a nearby silver container there were bags of heroin, Xanax and Artane.

Swain gave the officers consent to search the room where digital scales, small baggies and the referenced silver container were found along with pills and a powder substance. Based on the report, two bags contained what is believed to be heroin, Xanax and Artane.

Clinton Lee Swain, 43, 414 West Prospect Street, La Follette, was charged with attempted aggravated burglary, the manufacture-delivery-sell of a schedule I controlled substance, meth, possession of schedule IV controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to jail records, this was Swain’s 26th arrest, and he is yet to be arraigned. Swain remains housed in the Campbell County Jail this morning without bond. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/16/2023-6AM)
