LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Heritage Landscapes is WLAF’s business of the week! The locally owned landscape business celebrated its two year anniversary this week.

Heritage Landscapes is a family operated business that offers a variety of services including landscape design, maintenance, irrigation, stone work, patio installations and more.

Onwer Chris Thacker started the business two years ago and said “the Lord had been very good to him,” with the business expanding and growing.

Thacker has over 22 years experience in the landscaping industry. He is also the local Boy Scout leader of Troop 310 and said he enjoys working with his son in the family business.

A self described “plant geek”, Chris Thacker said he “specializes in the botany of things, proper pruning and plant maintenance.”

As a family business, his son, Eagle Scout Stewart Thacker also helps on the crew as does Chris’s older brother Air Force Veteran John Thacker.

Stewart said landscaping had been a part of his life since he was a young man and that his dad had taught him so much over the years.

“I have to say the best part of it is, not only seeing a picture come to fruition, but understanding how it works and how it sustains itself. The science and artistry in this work is unbelievable, and that’s what makes the job amazing. I must say I don’t know anyone who knows plants more than Dad. He’s taught me the love for this job, even on the hardest days of work,” Stewart Thacker said.

Nate Hatfield is also part of the team and has 11 years experience in the lawn care business. Paul Harmon, Steven Pratt and Raymond Smith also work as part of the crew.

Chris Thacker’s wife Chrystal also helps with the bookkeeping end.

“I have a great family and a great crew. Everyone is dedicated to the job, and we do our best to make it look better than when we got there,” Chris Thacker said.

He also wanted to say a “huge thank you to his customers” that have supported the business over the last two years and helped it grow.

“It’s the community that has allowed me to get back into this. Since I started back, we’ve not run out of work, and I just want to say thank you to all of our customers. We appreciate them so much.”

  1. Thank you to Wlaf and Campbell County for allowing us to stay doing what we love. We definitely couldn’t do it without our whole crew. Raymond Smith, Paul Harmon , and our newest addition Steven Pratt! Thank you to all and most importantly the Lord for making all of this a possibility.
