JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Jacksboro Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved raising court costs to $100 at its Thursday night meeting. This comes on the heels of the City of LaFollette doubling its court costs.

Ordinance 130 was approved prohibiting any additional billboards in the Town of Jacksboro.

Several items were approved for the fire department, beginning with repairs to engine number 2, purchasing materials for Fire Prevention Week and the Fall Festival, two upcoming trainings for the fire chief and assistant fire chief and the final item was bidding out three sets of turn out gear.

The police department requested to advertise for bids for a new patrol car and to surplus a 2007 Jeep Liberty to sell on Govdeals.com. Both items were approved. Police Chief Daniel Smith requested to apply for an endowment grant for $3,000 for the Shop with a Cop program.

Librarian Gaytha Daugherty requested to change the hours for the library from 8 am – 4pm to 9 am-5 pm. The change was approved.

A multi-use court could soon be in the park, Bill Robinson Park, at Jacksboro. The board discussed looking into the cost of adding a court that could be used for basketball and other activities. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/07/2023-6AM)
