PIONEER, TN (WLAF) – A man who mysteriously went missing from an ATV Trail on Monday afternoon returned in similar fashion late Monday night. Crews with the La Follette Rescue Squad, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, the Jellico Rescue Squad and other ATV riders searched for him for several hours.

“The lost person returned to camp about midnight. He said he tried to flag down some ATV riders, but they refused to stop,” said La Follette Rescue Squad Chief Charles Hutson.

One official noted that the man is from Venezuela, and this was his first time here. “He walked away from his group and sort of vanished, and that last big heavy rain storm hit maybe making him disoriented,” said the official.

It was originally reported that on ATV Trail 7 in the mountains of Campbell County is where the search began for a young man, whom officials say, became separated from a group of ATV riders on Monday in the mid-afternoon.

The man reportedly abandoned his ATV, and searchers were called in at 3:45pm as those close to the situation say he walked off from the trail. A white 30 year old male last seen wearing black jeans and a blue hoodie is how he is described. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/08/2023-2AM)
