TOP PHOTO: At a home that sits between Beech and Cherry Streets is where La Follette Police conducted its second drug raid of the day on Tuesday morning.

The home, where white pick-up sits, is where investigators with LPD converged in the 9am hour on Tuesday. It sits near the Co-op off West Beech Street.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A flash bang was heard all around the neighborhood near the Co-op on Tuesday morning about 9:30. “I think because the way this home is situated up against this bank at Cherry Street, it forced the sound outward,” said La Follette Police Lieutenant Matthew Forsyth. A flash bang is a non-lethal explosion that produces a loud bang and a bright light when detonated. “We use this to create a distraction to disorient the target,” said Forsyth.

This was the second drug raid within a couple of hours for LPD’s Special Response Team and Narcotics Unit. “We are going to arrest the people, a man and a woman, from this residence at 515 West Beech Street. A large amount of heroin was confiscated,” said Forsyth. UPDATE: Lt. Forsyth explains that no arrests were made, and that given what was discovered this morning, the investigation is deemed pending.

In a two hour span of time, LPD’s Narcotics Unit and Special Response Team conducted raids and netted arrests.

Exact charges are pending. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/15/2023-11AM-UPDATED – 08/15/2023-1PM)
