CAMPBELL COUNTY, TN. (WLAF)-On Oct. 6 and Oct. 7, Eighth Judicial District Attorney General Jared Effler and staff, in partnership with the Children’s Centers of the Eighth Judicial District, hosted the Eighth Annual Dixie Roofing Clays for Children Sporting Clays Tournament at Iron Mountain Sporting Clays in Kodak.

The event was to raise money to support the Children’s Centers of the judicial district, comprised of Campbell, Claiborne, Fentress, Scott, and Union counties.  With 132 teams and 518 individual shooters participating, this year’s event was the largest to date and the largest tournament ever hosted at Iron Mountain.

The Children’s Centers of the Eighth Judicial District serve hundreds of children each year and works closely with local law enforcement and the district attorney general’s office.  They assist with medical examinations, forensic interviews, counseling, and court proceedings.  The services the centers provide help to ensure that justice is served upon the perpetrators of crimes against children and help victims navigate the court system and receive the resources they need.

“Words are simply not enough to express my gratitude for everyone’s generosity and effort in making this year’s event such an enormous success!  Law enforcement, local businesses, corporations, service providers and private individuals are all to be commended for a job well done,” said Effler.

This year’s Dixie Roofing Clays for Children Sporting Clays Tournament netted $100,000, a new record total for the event.  This money will ensure that the Children’s Centers can continue their worthy mission of serving abused and neglected children.
