OAK RIDGE, TN (WLAF) – The Lady Cougars, following a heartbreaking loss to Powell on Thursday, traveled to the “Secret City” to tangle with the Oak Ridge Lady Wildcats. Oak Ridge defeated Campbell on Brown Court 66-53 on Jan. 27th, and had won the last ten meetings against the Orange-and-Blue.

Lacey Pemberton put Campbell on the scoreboard first with a mid-range jumper. Campbell, however trailed 6-2 after 2 minutes elapsed in the first. After this, the Lady Cougars proceeded to outscore Oak Ridge 11-2 in the next four minutes, capped off by a Bella Lester AND1 to claim their first lead over the Lady Wildcats, 11-8. At the end of the first frame, Campbell held a narrow 11-10 lead over Oak Ridge.

The Lady Wildcats and Lady Cougars traded threes on their first possessions of the second quarter. Campbell’s long shot came from Saylor Hutcheson to put the Orange-and-Blue back on top 14-13.  After this Oak Ridge snapped back with an 11-0 run to lead Campbell 24-14 with just over two minutes left in the first half. Oak Ridge tacked on a layup near the buzzer, to lead the Lady Cougars 26-14.

Campbell’s first points of the second half came from the same Lady Cougar as they did in the first half. Lacey Pemberton knocked down a two-point bucket to cut the Lady Wildcat lead back down to 10. Campbell though would only manage to score four more points in the third after the Pemberton basket. Oak Ridge outscored Campbell 19-6 in the third to lead the Orange-and-Blue 45-20 after three quarters.

Oak Ridge was not going to let the win slip away. The Lady Wildcats maintained their lead in the fourth quarter. When the final horn sounded, Oak Ridge defeated Campbell for the 11th straight time, 61-32.

Lacey Pemberton was the top scorer for Campbell with nine points. Saylor Hutcheson scored seven points. Carley Kitts had six points. Bella Lester totaled five. Aleeah Woodson hit a three-pointer for her only points of the night, and Reagan Davis rounded out the scoring column with two. Reagan Stanfill, Jayden Kitts, Preslee Chapman, and Destiny Rutherford all saw the court, but were unable to score.
